Welcome to Irish Derm Tutor

Irish Derm Tutor is a free educational resource created primarily for dermatology trainees who want to build their knowledge and confidence. It may also be useful for GPs, junior doctors and other healthcare professionals looking for practical, evidence-based guidance in dermatology.

Building this website has also shown me how useful AI can be for creating educational resources and developing ideas. I’ve therefore included a practical introduction to AI for healthcare professionals, focusing on simple, accessible ways it can support learning, creativity and everyday work.

About Me:

I'm Len Timoney, a Consultant Dermatologist at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. I had quite a convoluted path through training.

After completing my specialist training in the West of Scotland—with additional posts in Ireland, London (UCLH), and Perth, Australia—I completed a Senior Clinical Fellowship in Medical Dermatology and Medical Education at St John's Institute of Dermatology, London, before taking up my current role.

My interest in Dermatology and Dermatology education started when I completed a Dermatology Diploma with the Australian Institute of Dermatology. This was later consolidated by completing a Master’s degree in Clinical Education with the University of Galway. 

I firmly believe that with the busy lives we all live that medical education should be practical, affordable and accessible at a convenient time for people. This belief, combined with my commitment to improving dermatological care, inspired me to create this educational website as a resource for seeking to enhance their understanding of dermatology.
